Black Billboard

Uncategorized

Spotted this cracking new poster for Charlie Brooker’s TV series, Black Mirror, on the Underground this morning.

The show’s content is pretty scary.

Yeah, I'd love to take your number

Yeah, I’d love to take your number

And at 7.40am, so is the ad.

Have a good week,

Art and Outdoor

Uncategorized

The Barbican is one of London’s cultural gems, smashing together world-class art, theatre, music, dance and film in one gigantic concrete megadome.

To promote their “Dancing around Duchamp Season” – celebrating the legacy of French surrealist, Dadaist and all round avant-garde superhero Marcel Duchamp – the Barbican is employing every half decent artist’s ad medium of choice: outdoor.

A series of teaser posters were placed in “creative hotspots*” around London(Hackney/Shoreditch/New Cross/Peckham/Camberwell) last week, featuring iconic artwork and oblique quotations which will only be unveiled to be a Barbican campaign when the ‘reveal’ posters are placed over the top at the end of January. Zing!

A wider outdoor campaign will launch on 28 Jan with the ‘reveal’ posters going up in high footfall tube and rail spots across London. Sounds pretty highbrow, right?

Are urinals art? Yes they are, thickies

Are urinals art? Yes they are, thickies

Well it is….apart, maybe, from the urinal.

Have a good weekend,

Club Med

Uncategorized

It’s been a few years since yours truly last took a Club Med holiday.

Back then the Internet was called Teletext, Pitt The Younger was Prime Minister and Bill Wilson was in his early fifties.

In those days, Club Med jaunts consisted of a seven day ordeal, eating chip sandwiches for breakfast, with sunburnt Brummie sociopaths inside a broiling concrete cube near the Kavos County Jail. Probably.

These days, they’re rather more upmarket – taking in ski holidays, people without criminal records and even doing the odd bit of natty outdoor advertising.

I spotted the below on a pillar in Liverpool Street station – the angle of which is suspiciously similar to a ski slope.

Pretty cool.

Happy New Year

Uncategorized

Have you ever wondered how much some of the world’s most famous (and pricey) out of home media will cost you?
Well, @wearenugget (a cool experiential agency) have just Tweeted an interesting infographic that caught my eyes, explaining how much New York’s prime OOH real estate is going for. The answer? Loads.

20130107-214929.jpg

With 100m+ pedestrians thronging Times Square every year – not to mention countless appearances on TV shows and in films beamed to millions – the New York site is American outdoor advertising’s equivalent of the Hollywood sign, Mount Rushmore and the White House all rolled into one.

If anyone has got a similar infographic for London, I’d love to see it. Please get in touch on the usual address..

Employ Adam!

Uncategorized

As any recent graduate will gloomily attest, the job market for those just leaving university has never been more competitive.

Horror stories of lovingly crafted applications going unanswered, scores of graduates chasing every job and months stuck in unpaid internships are all too frequent.

But one enterprising media graduate, Adam Pacitti, has come up with a novel way of putting his CV in front of as many people as possible.

Alongside his well designed website and video (well, he is a media grad after all) Adam has spent his last £500 on a billboard, advertising, well, himself:

Needless to say, Adam has helped himself twice over. Firstly, by sticking a ad outside of Kilburn station he’s reaching more eyeballs in a couple of hours than his CV would in weeks of diligently completed applications.

And secondly, the media love this sort of thing. From Twitter to the tabloids, expect to see Adam’s face all over the Internet in the next couple of days.

Any readers who’s like to give Adam a job can contact him here.

Here’s hoping there’s a job for him just around the corner…

Happy New Year,
